Cars 2 poses a weird and inconsistent question. How and why do they have human food? It makes no sense why cars would even eat, know, or produce human food. In Cars 2, mater finds a sushi stand and thinks the wasabi is ice cream. First off, if ice cream exists in the car universe, where do they get the dairy from? Because it's certainly not from the cow tractors from Cars 1. Secondly, why would cars eat human food? What benefit does it give them, and where does it go? Aren't their bodies designed for fuel and gas? Would the food replenish the organic parts in their interior? This aspect doesn't make much sense, and I think Cars 2 could be a non-canon movie in the franchise, and here's why: Cars 2 focuses on Mater's story as he falls into a situation with spy British spies and gets involved in a conspiracy of an organization of lemon cars with a vendetta against the companies that discontinued their parts. It sounds like a crazy plot because it is. The plot sounds like something Mater made up in one of his tall tales, and there might be suggestions and proof. In Cars 2, when mater gets a dent, he opts not to fix it as he values dents like humans do with scares. But in Cars 3, we don't see that dent on Mater anymore. In addition, we never hear about any of the spies or mentions of any events in the previous film. Which is odd considering all the crazy shit that happens. So it's very possible that Cars 2 never happened and is just one of Mater's tall tales, which explains the missing dent, the focus on Mater as the main character, and the inconsistencies in the logic.
